Everything in this world is changing. Not only this, the rate of change in itself is steadily changing. This change in the rate of change is an accurate measure of the true progress. As an example, in 1962, computers could store about 40,000 bits of information. By 1980, computers could store as many as 77, 786, 000, 000 bits of information and could do 12, 000, 000, 000 calculations per second. Now the bits of information and the storing capacity of the computer is proportionally increasing. This is a sign of progress in science and technology. Today, teachers of Islamic studies all over the world are being challenged to bring drastic change, both in teaching material as well as in teaching method. There is desperate demand that scientific approach should be applied to teach Islam, both in traditional and secular institutions. This change is important as the students are spending most of their time in modern schools and colleges. Teachers are also being challenged by their students at all levels to demonstrate the inter-relationship of Islam and science. An attempt has been made in this book to respond to these challenges and to meet the genuine demands of our students. It is important to consider every variety of opinion in an attempt to determine the truth. Islam is basically against blind following. This book has been written for Muslim students who are studying in secular institutions. In some colleges, like ours (Al-Muntazir Islamic Seminary), Muslim students of different sects attend the religion class together. This book is definitely in accordance with the Shia viewpoint, not because that I am Shia, but because it is the outcome of my life-long research. Adherents of other sects should critically analyze the substance of this book to form their opinion about the Shia viewpoint. To have a good grasp of one’s own viewpoint, it is necessary to understand the arguments of those with whom one disagrees. It can be said that those who do not completely understand dissenter ’s point of view do not fully understand their own.   Source: ziaraat.com
